Jithin, A sculptor is currently based in Baroda. In the first part of the podcast he tells us about how he used to accompany his father to work. His father who is also a visual artist used to paint large, monumental scaled hoardings. The culture and practice of making hoardings are still alive and seen through out India. As Jayakumar shares, his father was also in this line of work. The hoardings usually consists of images of hero and heroines from the entertainment industries or of politicians. the scale from 20ft plus. This kind of works brought in people from different sections of the society.
He tells us that his father used to take him along when he was really young. although he didn't understand the nature of work it did manage to spark some sort of curiosity. Curious about colors, paint brushes and just the sheer size of the hoardings. This gradually grew in him, tagging along with his father whenever he can, learning by interactions and finally took the decision to pursue his career as an Artist.

Finally when he starts his practice in Vadodara, he begins to sense his perspective shift toward more abstract visual representation. Jithin shares with us his ideas on home, the physical contexts and its meaning. The notion of home, societies, families all come under his work, always connected to the relationship with clay, bricks and terracotta.
